Kara Smith

Kara Smith joined John Milner Architects in 2014 and was named Associate in 2020. She obtained a Bachelor of Fine Art degree in Interior Design at Pratt Institute in New York, and spent a semester at the Danish Institute for Study Abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark. Kara received a Master's degree in Historic Preservation from the University of Florida, where she was employed as a summer teaching assistant at the University's Preservation Institute in Nantucket. Her experience at JMA includes a variety of projects ranging from new traditional residential design, comprehensive historic site survey and assessment, and commercial renovations. A native of Philadelphia, she has enjoyed participating in the Philadelphia preservation community and teaching as an adjunct professor in the College of Architecture and the Built Environment at Thomas Jefferson University.
