Our firm is currently undertaking an exterior envelope restoration of the Sandy Hook Lighthouse for the National Park Service. The work includes window restoration, masonry repair and repainting, ventilation improvements, roof restoration and the repair of the original stone watch deck. The Sandy Hook Lighthouse is the oldest standing lighthouse and the oldest operating lighthouse in the United States. First lit in 1764, its thick walls protected it from cannonball fire during the Revolutionary War. The National Historic Landmark structure, located on the New Jersey coast, is the only surviving lighthouse of the 11 lighthouses built in the thirteen colonies during the colonial period from 1716-1771.
