President George Washington resided in the Deshler Morris House during the height of Philadelphia’s yellow fever epidemic from 1793-94. The building was restored by the National Park Service to interpret Washington’s presence there, and the adjacent Bringhurst House was adapted to provide visitor reception facilities, space for interpretative exhibits, and accommodate mechanical equipment serving both buildings. John Milner Architects collaborated with HDR Architecture in designing the project.
