Our firm, commissioned as Preservation Architect, provided peer review of details and specifications for HDR, Inc., and collectively performed Preservation Assessment; Construction Documentation; and Construction Phase Services for the landmark Springfield Union Station in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our firm also provided an Historic Preservation Assessment Report, identifying areas of historical significance. All exterior facades were surveyed and documented, including brick, stone, and architectural concrete for restoration purposes. Masonry repairs (lintel replacements, crack repair, etc.) were coordinated. The notable North Entrance Canopy was surveyed and documented for repair and restoration. Historically acceptable window replacement units were provided and historic light fixtures were restored and replaced as necessary. Main entrance doors and others on this façade were restored and replaced, with modifications to comply with egress and ADA requirements. Work also included the preparation of details and specifications for interior finishes, decorative plaster, terrazzo flooring, and moldings for the Concourse, Entrance Lobby, and Vestibule spaces. |
