The South Wing of the Capitol Building, accommodating offices of the Governor and the senior ranking members of the House of Representatives, was preserved and selectively restored. The work involved decorative painting and finishes, ornamental plaster, woodwork and marble and assisting with the sensitive integration of state-of-the-art mechanical, electrical, communications, security, accessibility and fire protection systems. Completed in 1906, The Pennsylvania State Capitol is considered to be “the most beautiful of all state capitols.” For this reason, among others, it is listed as a National Historic Landmark. |
