Jim Douglas joined John Milner Architects in 2017 and was named Senior Associate in 2025. Jim received a Bachelor of Architecture degree and a Master's in Business Administration from the Pennsylvania State University. He has also studied Fine Art at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Academy of Classical Design in North Carolina. Prior to joining JMA, Jim designed high-quality traditional single and multi-family housing. At JMA, Jim manages the preparation of design and construction documents for a variety of historic residential projects, as well as new construction designed in a traditional style. He is an award-winning member of the American Society of Architectural Illustrators, and the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art. Jim has served as a mentor for the Schreyer Honors College Mentoring with Honors Program since 2007, and received the Outstanding Scholar Alumni Mentor Award in 2012. He attended the residential summer school in the UK with The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment (now The King’s Foundation) to practice building techniques, and the London Summer School with the Victorian Society to study British architecture from 1837 to 1914. Jim is a member of American Institute of Architects, Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, Victorian Society in America, National Trust for Historic Preservation, and LancasterHistory. Originally from western Pennsylvania, Jim currently resides in Lancaster, Pennsylvania with his wife and two children.
